RESPONDING TO OUR CALL

Dear Brethren:

I feel humbled to have received this mission call to the Washington Kennewick Mission. My wife and I have waited 37 years to do this together. What a blessing it is! We are excited to serve the Lord in the capacity in which He has called us. We have witnessed miracles in our lives that will allow us to accomplish this mission, at this time. I have a firm testimony that when one has a desire to serve, the Lord will provide the way. I know that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith is and was a Prophet of God. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the living Prophet on the face of the earth today. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I feel empowered by this call to serve. I know as I serve, study and pray, that the Lord will pour out His blessings upon us and those that we serve. I know that by serving Him, I will gain greater understanding of His Life and will be able to emulate His Love in what we have been called to do.

My wife and I look forward to serving many missions, and especially look forward to our first in the Washington Kennewick Mission.

Thank you for this opportunity!

Best Regards,

Elder Charles Edwin Lee

Dear Brethren:

I know that God lives and answers prayers. I have a testimony of the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know from personal experience that a "willingness" to be obedient, until the end of my life, very literally has blessed me with power to make changes that would have been otherwise impossible.

I have received powerful witnesses from Heaven of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, of the Restoration through our Prophet Joseph Smith, of this Church being the only true church on the face of the earth, and that we are led by a living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. But most of all, I know that Jesus is the Savior of all mankind, and that the Plan of Salvation works! I am humbled to accept this call to proclaim these truths, and hope for many opportunities to build His Kingdom.

It will be an honor and privilege to labor by the side of my good husband at Camp Zarahemla. Living and working on this dedicated campground, for me, will be like living in the temple..."a Holy Mountain of the Lord". Serving a mission at this time in our lives is just what we need to purify our hearts.

Thank you....thank you....and thank you again!

Sincerely,
Sister Carol H. Lee

WAITING IS HARD!

Every Thursday after our papers were sent electronically, Chuck knew that we were going to receive our call to Morningside on Vashon Island! But ALAS! No mission call....the first Thursday nor the second Thursday, nor the third Thursday, nor the fourth Thursday, nor the fifth Thursday! So, we went to the Manti Pageant and stayed overnight in an 1850's house, attended the temple the next morning, and knew when we got back that afternoon that the mission call would be there -- because it was the sixth Thursday! But again! No mission call! So, Chuck called the stake president to see if he had any information from Salt Lake, because he had said he would be talking to them...and, to our surprise, he had talked to Salt Lake!...Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday...how humbling to know that a member of the First Presidency and an Apostle had called our Stake President to talk about US! So Chuck repented for being mad about waiting!...and we waited some more. Finally, on the seventh Thursday, we went to box 11, opened the door, and....THERE WAS THE BIG WHITE ENVELOPE! Chuck thought he was 19 all over again! Isn't he cute?!...."Elder Lee"

That night we read our call over the phone to all seven children. We were so shocked!...to be called back home...to the Washington Kennewick Mission!...to serve as Caretakers of Camp Zarahemla! It will be wonderful to be able to attend the baby blessings of Andrea's and Melissa's baby girls, and to witness Andrew's baptism! Also, we will be able to have a mini family reunion at the Columbia River Temple when we do Grandpa's work. The waiting is now over, and the work begins!....getting ready for renters and packing for two years away from sunny St. George!
